I'm walking down Lincoln again. Droplets form against the windows. Early morning light and shadows bend to colors, reaching for the lenses in my eyes, which take them, turn them upside-down, and though I do not know quite how, they will be turned right back around and spit back out through conduits and cabling, which disassemble them for processing from noise and light, still frames in static to motion and information. I suddenly see that the reason is everywhere around us. Bus stop standing on the corner. Passengers are waiting, and I sit in silence half asleep, and I wonder what they each are thinking: woman with off-white woolen cap, a young man staring at the sidewalk where the tip of her umbrella touches to the ground. And the distance between strangers can sometimes be quite alarming but today the bus comes to carry us together into the morning. I suddenly see that the reason is everywhere around us. -----------------------------------------------

Sunlight creeped from starboard windows, gripping at the walls. You were already awake, rushing to get your socks and boots on. Sirens from all around came singing from the halls, and you were so excited, you could hardly get your bootlaces drawn. And from the hallway I could hear the sitrep: sixteen rooks shot down on a routine scout for water, and now sparrows flocked about Our Mother's bow, crying in all directions: Baah dah dah baah dah dah! But when we heard the Argos led the flight, I could see the fear in your eyes. You were always saying it would be so fun. Now we're staring down the barrels of our own guns. Baah dah dah baah dah dah bah daaaaaaah! Baah dah dah baah dah dah bah daaaaaaah! Captain called the orders: set those guns alight. And each ship hovered in the dark, assembled side by side by side, silent in all directions. Baah dah dah baah dah dah! There, the fleets, 400 deep. All stood gleaming in the starlight. You were always saying it would be so fun. Now we're staring down the barrels of our own guns. (insert thrilling space battle here) Baah dah dah baah dah dah bah daaaaaaah! Baah dah dah baah dah dah bah daaaaaaah! -----------------------------------------------

Siren 03:17
It was winter when I arrived and when I left. The snow maybe never really leaves Wisconsin. The University had built tunnels underground, so we could move safely around from room to room, class to class, but still, the snow never really leaves Wisconsin. And when your voice came across the snow, how could I know? How could I know? How could I know the difference between an angel singing in the firmament and what was waiting out in the cold to snatch me up, devour me whole? What sound, what sound! How enthralling! From the halls of the conservatory calling, "ahh… ahhh… ahhhhh…" I thought, "Oh, what song what sweetly singing stranger!" instead of, "Danger! Danger! Danger! Danger! Danger!" Now when I sleep, when I sleep, I’m back beneath the city, there in Wisconsin, trying hard to hold back the night in the incandescent humming of the hallway light. Day one, day two, day three, day four, stumbling awake in Wisconsin, transmuting from whatever I had been to a ghost wearing my skin. What sound, what sound! How enthralling! From the halls of the conservatory calling, "ahh… ahhh… ahhhhh…" I thought, "Oh, what song what sweetly singing stranger!" instead of, "Danger! Danger! Danger! Danger! Danger!" -----------------------------------------------

As You Are 03:25
We are now, and we are then. It's kind of hard to comprehend. We are each unmoving shapes stretched across time and space. So no need to hold so tight to me, but, you say, we can't see the future. I know you feel unsteady, but the future is already. I see you as you are, and so I see you as you will be. I see you intertwined with me as you were as you will be as you are. You take the train or walk instead to work. For now I ride a moped, but one day we'll have a car parked outside. See, there you are waving from the lawn as I drive off to my job at the studio that pays the bills not covered by your job teaching English skills to twelve-year-olds enrolled at the same school where we met, now half our lives ago. I see you as you are, and so I see you as you will be. I see you intertwined with me as you were as you will be as you are. I see you as you will be. You will help me from the sidewalk to the street as I fight to keep my old legs steady. The future is already. And all along we are intertwined. I am yours. You are mine. I held your hand as we went to classes, so will I to dust and ashes. I see you as you are, and so I see you as you will be. I see you intertwined with me as you were as you will be as you are. -----------------------------------------------
